» Suspend Trainer and Groom In Suffolk Stimulation Case SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 17. — The management of Suffolk Downs and the Massachusetts State Racing Commission announced today that Massachusetts State Police chemists had reported an analysis of the fluid urine taken from a horse identified as Sun Flame, winner of the second race on Thursday, May 15, 1947, at the Suffolk Downs track, shows that a stimulant of the nature of benzedrine has been found. The report was submitted by John Mc- Hugh and Charles Plummer, assistant chemists of the Massachusetts State Police, and Dr. Joseph T. Walker. The report was referred to the Suffolk Downs stewards, who ruled that pending the outcome of a hearing to be given trainer W. E. Collins and groom John Himmelreich, Tuesday, May 20, at 10 a. m., "all horses owned by or under control of W. E. Collins are hereby suspended." Sun Flame, owned by Mrs. L. Rosenthal, was ridden by jockey Sammy Luce in a ,500 claiming race, and won by a head over Soverton in a six-furlong event. Sun Flame closed favorite and paid 1.00 to win.
