Form Insurance Company For Persons in Racing American Travelers Corporation Endorsed by Directors of HBPA BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y„ June 1.— An insurance company has been incorporated in Indiana whose chief function will be the writing of life, accident and health policies for people engaged in racing or associated activities, W. E. Charles, Jr., Columbus, Ohio, turfman and director of the Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association, reported today. It is the American Travelers Corporation of Indianapolis and it has been endorsed by the national board of directors of the Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association. Twelve of the 14 directors of the insurance company are members of the HBPA. Charles said that the ATC will serve as sole agent for the American Travelers Insurance Company in issuing insurance to the families of horse owners, trainers, jockeys, grooms, breeders, exercise riders, breeding farm workers, mutuel department employees and other track personnel. Under its charter, and by-laws, Charles added that the HBPA cannot engage in any activity for profit, but a substantial portion of the commissions, less expenses, from the insurance sold by the ATC will be donated to the charity fund of the horsemens association. Without physical examination of the applicant, life insurance with double indemnity for accidental death will be written at 5.00 per thousand for not less than ,000 nor more than ,000. Health, accident and hospitalization policies will cost 5 per year. The latter will cover 90 days hospitalization, surgery up to 35, 0 maternity and 5 per week for 12 weeks if the policy holder is incapacitated for more than 7 days by illness. Minors between the; ages of 5. and .21 may have, the game coverage at .50 per year.
