HUTCH, allowed to settle into best stride while outrun early, moved rapidly when roused, came to the outside for the drive and finished stoutly. RIVER BOYNE turned back repeated challenges in the final half mile, but was unable to cope with the winner. THE WING was a forward factor throughout NIGHT BOMBER flattened out after entering contention. DIATRIBE closed well under pressure. STILL CHAMP was unable to keep up. TWO DEUCE showed good speed from the start, set the pace to the far turn, then tired. BROWN APPELL showed nothing. SOVERTON was outrun. HOT TIME was hit and turned sideways as the rider tried to take out on the first turn and never recovered. TWO DAY AIR, reserved off the pace for six furlongs, moved into command when ready, saved ground along the inside and increased margin under light urging. BOB MANN saved ground to take an early lead, held on gamely after losing command, but was unable to menace the winner: MISS SUN BEAU improved position gradually to close with good energy. QUASI, outrun to the final sixteenth, finished on the outside with a belated rush. FRENCH QUEEN was unable to keep up. MON TORCH passed tiring horses along the inside. LITTLE RENNY showed nothing. BEAUTIFUL TIME was never prominent RIVER BREEZE went evenly. TO TO LIGHT was through early. MARBLEHEAD stopped badly. LOOT moved over to the rail soon after the start, saved ground to enter contention, was allowed to draw close to the pace on the outside while under restraint, assumed command when roused and drew out easily. KENTUCKY RED disposed of SAGUNTO after a half, but was unable to match strides with the winner. SWELL GUY closed well from off the pace. MIGHTY FALCON went dully. SAGUNTO quit.
