Eight Speedy Sprinters Named for Felton Purse Equibit and Tacaro Briar, Both "Winners Last Out, Head Field DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 1. — Sprinters are featured tomorrow in the ,500 Felton Purse and eight fleet members of the division have been named overnight to compete in the event, which is styled for four-year-olds and upward. Ella K. Brysons Equibit and R. L. Hall, Jr.s, Tacaro Briar were winners of their most recent outings and likely will attract considerable public support. Others in the Felton are: Grant Thorns Andy Handy, Alan T. Clarkes Fritz Maisel, Mrs.W. W. Vaughans Lanlast, Grandview Stables Erigeron, J. H. Rouses Three Dots and Brookmeade Stables Irrawaddy. Equibit, a four-year-old Equator colt, has raced but twice this season and gave a good account of himself on each occasion. His seasonal debut was at Pimlico and he turned in a corking effort when second to the good mare, Winter Wheat. His other start was at Garden State and he trimmed a fairly classy field in 1:11%. A repeat of either effort would find him in the thick of contention for major spoils. Another lightly campaigned sprinter in the Felton is Tacaro Briar, a six-year-old son of Neddie. His initial victory of the season was accomplished recently at Garden State where he beat 5,000 claimers while running six furlongs in 1:12% over a good track. Irrawaddy has not started since early July of last year. He raced only six times during thai season, winning his first two appearances, but failing to impress in subsequent efforts. That he is ready for competition is a certainty, for he is conditioned by the veteran Preston Burch. Another making his first start of the season is Lanlast. This fellow has trained briskly over the local course and is fit and ready. He was a six-time winner during the 1948 campaign. Fritz Maisel and Three Dots have each started but once thus far in the season. Fritz Maisel was unplaced in a Pimlico sprhitvhUeThreDotejU performance at Garden State to finish in the runner-up position behind Equibit, being beaten but a half length. Erigeron was a stakes winner last year, but has shown little this season. One thing in his favor is the fact that he has had a race over the track during this meeting. Andy Handy has raced well in all of his starts, but has yet to earn brackets. Another attractive race on tomorrows card is the six furlongs fourth, a dash for three-year-olds. Included in the field are two 1948 stakes winners, George D. Wide-ners Marabout and Harry Straus Nokomis. The latter won the Maryland Futurity at Laurel, while Marabout was victorious in Belmont Parks Juvenile Stakes. Marabout was unimpressive while trailing in his lone start this season, but showed enough early speed to suggest that improvement can be expected. Others in the event which is named the Kensey Johns are: Brookmeade Stables Sky Miracle, Mrs. E. H. Beezleys Black Lead, Mrs. R. H. Heighes Indus, Ella K. Brysons Two Gs, Cedar Farms Sonofun, J. C. Ellis Last Kiss and A. H. Smiths Adamant.
