W. Parrish. Two other invaders from New York and New Jersey are Woodvale Farms Halt, who was bedded down at the East Boston track late yesterday afternoon and William G. Helis Benvenuto, being shipped in here today from New Jersey. Fred W. Hoopers Ocean Drive and King Ranchs Swap Out were definitely counted out of the mile and a quarter classic this morning following word received from Ivan Parke and Max Hirsch, conditioners of the two, who were considered possibilities for the Yankee. Parke stated that Ocean Drive would compete in the Peter Pan at Belmont Park on Saturday and Hirsch reported that Swap Out suffered cracked heels following a recent morning trial. Ten Likely Starters The 10 sophomores that will vie for the .coveted prize of the Yankee present one of the best matched fields in the history of the top three-year-old event on the New England circuit. Mort Stuarts Best Doings will be starting highweight of the Yankee under an impost of 118 pounds, which is five more than that assigned to Halt. Mar-let stables Sneak is listed at 112, followed by One Hitter and Frances Stables Engle Man with 111. Two local campaigners, Murray Hill Farms Boo Boo Shoo and L. W. Johnsons Var are bracketed at 110 pounds. Benvenuto gets in the Yankee under i09 and Going Away and Beverley Brouns Magna Charta are the lightweights with their 106 pounds. Although this years line-up for the Yankee does not include the recognized cream of the sophomore crop, it should rank with one of the most interesting runnings of the 13 previous editions of the fixture. The local quartet of Best Doings, Var, Sneak and Boo Boo Shoo have not competed against the invaders this spring, but certainly have displayed good enough form at Suffolk Downs to warrant equal consideration in the Yankee. , Halts triumph in the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland early in April, stamps him as the foremost contender of the invading group. None of the Yankee candidates that are on the grounds were given serious training moves this morning. The majority of the group will be under saddle tomorrow morning for completion of their training for the big event. The Yankee will be run as the fifth race of an eight-race card to enable the event to be broadcast over a nationwide radio hook-up. Announcement as to the exact time of the broadcast will be made later today after completion of impending plans has been accomplished. Suffolk Downs officials are very optimistic in their hope for a large crowd on Saturday.
