MANAVEL moved into command before a quarter of a mile, increased her margin without urging and was in hand while protecting the lead to the end. DIVING DEVIL, sluggish from the barrier, weaved his way between horses to reach contention and closed stoutly along the rail. LADY KELZIN forced the pace and held on well under a drive. PAMS BOY, never far back, lacked a closing rally. TASSO T. had no misbap. FLY AROUND lost ground trying to stay with the leaders while on the outside. THE MARNE was well placed for a half mile, then was not persevered with when unable to reach the leaders. H. A. KELLER showed nothing. MT. ALTO was outrun. SWYNJANE quit. MISS PIN UP broke alertly, was steadied close to the leader for a half mile, moved into command when roused and had enough left to hold PURVEYOR safe. The latter worked her way up between horses, continued to gain on the leaders through the stretch and just missed. FOREVER THINE, slow getting started, was rushed up on the outside, circled the field to challenge for command before reaching the furlong pole, then flattened out TIGHT FIT was a forward factor and held on well. CELESTIA outran the field to establish the early pace, then tired after five furlongs. LILLIAN W. was never prominent. HI COMEDIENNE was away quickly, bore in slightly and failed to reach .serious contention. BLACK DISC was caught in close quarters nearing the far turn and failed to recover. TULKINGHORN RAN OFF A MILE BEFORE THE RACE, WAS ORDERED SCRATCHED BY THE STEWARDS AND ALL WAGERS ON HIM WERE REFUNDED. Scratched— S9781 Tulkinghorn, 115. SWIFT SWIV rushed boldly after a quarter mile to reach contention, continued to move readily under urging and was along to outfinish IN TASTE. The latter disposed of HALF CELLAR before entering the stretch, continued on gamely, but was not good enough. FERN GOLD finished strongly on the extreme outside. BLUE ROXY was unable to keep up early, but closed well between horses. RED FRANCES weakened after an early attempt to gain command. HALF CELLAR flattened out badly. TOSTON was outrun. RED DESIGN was reserved off the pace for a half mile, moved readily when .roused, overtook the leaders leaving the furlong pole and was drawing clear at the end. JUDYS RUNNER engaged the leaders soon after the start, was in the middle of horses on the turns and held on gamely under stout pressure. LITTLE CAPTAIN showed good speed while racing on the outside of the leaders and weakened nearing the end. HERES HUBE tired after racing with the pace to the final furlong. BERNIE MOOSE broke tardily and was not hustled when beaten. LOCUST-DALE shewed nothing. RED ANITA showed speed for a quarter of a mile, then tired. Scratched-90985 My Nell, 106. COUNTESS IN raced close to the early pace and under steadying restraint to the far turn, moved readily when roused, assumed command and drew clear under light pressure. ROY, a forward factor on the outside, was under steadying restraint until the final turn, then rallied mildly to extend the winner. SEPTEMBER raced within striking distance of the leaders throughout and held on well. NICK BLOOM passed tiring horses. DOLE was unable to make up ground under urging. HARBOURTON broke sluggishly, was not hustled while working his way up on the outside and finished with good energy. WOLF WHISTLE tired., ORBIT quit after forcing the pace. SPLIT THE WIND rallied stoutly when placed under pressure, circled the leaders to take command nearing the furlong pole, cut over in front of the field and increased the margin. SPITEFUL SUE, never far back under light restraint, rallied in the final furlong and closed resolutely. MR. CHAIRMAN saved ground along the inside, drew close to the leaders and held on gamely. SEERSUCKER was sent through on the inside after five furlongs, assumed command, then faltered THE BLUES raced OUR BULLY into submission, was unable to shake off the opposition and tired. OUR BULLY went well for seven furlongs, then tired and was pinched back as the field bunched. OCEAN PLAY was outrun Spiteful Sue claimed by W. F. Mannagh. EIGHTH RACE ABOUT 1 1-16 MILES turf course. CHRISTOPHER, steadied close behind the field for a half mile, moved readily when roused overtook the leader on the final turn, drifted wide, but was placed under a stout drive to outfinish UNCLE DOC. The latter established the pace under steady restraint, saved ground on the turns and held on gamely. EXCELENTE, outrun to the final furlong, finished stoutly between horses. F. B. EYE lacked a closing rally. TARAWA, well placed throughout, failed to respond when placed under pressure. ENTRANCED retired steadily after showing brief speed. TEL OSULLIVAN quit after five furlongs.
