DeSpirifos Condition Good After Surgery SurgeryRemove Remove Kidney and Spleen as Result of Spill on Tuesday TuesdayLAUREL LAUREL Md May 2 Tony DeSpirito injured yesterday in a fifthrace spill was reported in a satisfactory condition in Prince Georges General Hospital late this afternoon after having undergone an operation for removal of a kidney and spleen The early report on DeSpiritos condition yesterday was that he had suf ¬ fered three fractured ribs and was to re ¬ main hospitalized The 22yearold rider hemorrhaged during the night and attend ¬ ing physicians ordered the operation which was performed by Dr William Chase and Dr Louis Bachrack In discussing the case Dr McCeney rtated that DeSpirito would be inactive for several months and that there is a possibility that he will be advised to retire from his profession professionLast Last September DeSpirito who was the leading rider in the country in 1952 with 391 winners was critically injured when he fell while riding Open Sesame in the Beldame Handicap at Aqueduct He re ¬ mained in the hospital for about two months and was inactive for approximately four months
