De Vines Backbone, recent winner of the Chesapeake Stakes, today was considered a strong possibility for the 82hd running of the 00,000 Preakness Stakes on Satur-5 day, May 17, by trainer Lloyd A. Murray. Backbone, son of Englands Wordcn, winner of the 1953 Washing- . ton, D. C, International, has Garden .States Delaware Valley Stakes as his immediate objective. The colts effort, in the six-furlong event on Saturday will determine his starting status in the Preakness, Middle Jewel in the Triple Crown.
