Wantha Davis Mount Beats Westrope in Caliente Match AGUA CALIENTE, Tia Juana, Mexico, May 1.— Mrs. Wantha Davis, of Redlands, Calif., added another famous riders name to her growing list of victims at the border course yesterday, when she defeated jockey Jackie Westrope in a match race at six furlongs. Mrs. Davis had the mount on Mr. Bam, ■while Westrope handled Sir Shamrock. The contest was a hard fought affair with Sir Shamrock away from the gate first. Going to the far turn, Mr. Bam moved up on the outside and from that point on it was a nip and tuck affair. Midway of the stretch, Mr. Bam had a slight advantage but Westrope continued with his whip and Sir Shamrock responded. Mrs. Davis kept her mount going strongly and took the decision by the narrow margin of a neck. Mr. Bam carried 116 pounds and completed the six furlongs in 1:11% while Sir Shamrock picked up 121 pounds. The winner was made a slight public choice in the wagering and returned .60 for the usual ,00.
