BROWN FOX drew clear after disposing of UNAIDED, gave way to THE ORPHAN nearing the end, then showed surprising tenacity to outfinish his rival. THE ORPHAN, sore going postward, rallied well along the inside to get his head to the fore approaching the end, then gave way. DOLLYS IMAGE vied for the lead through the first half mile, then weakened. UNAIDED showed early speed to duel for the lead, but faltered in the final test ARDENT MISS failed to threaten. MAXIM MISS was outrun. HONEY ETHEL was through early. JOE MANDELL showed nothing. TIARA V. had no chance with the start. MISTAMBO saved ground to loom a threat, but was no match for the top pair. RED SWING pressed the pace and quit. MAKE SWING held a comfortable advantage along the backstretch, remained in front rounding the turn, then flattened out EASTERN FLYWAY had very poor action and was outdistanced.
