Peterson on First Swing Around Eastern Tracks PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 13.— Jockey Melvln Petersori, who scored his first success of the Piinllco meeting yesterday on Ariel Sweep, la no stranger to the winners circle, although this is his first swing around tracks in the eastern section of the country. Peterson, a native of Sallna, Utah, is a 29-year-old veteran of the saddle who has enjoyed excellent success in the Midwest and in California. He won the 00,000 Santa Anita Handicap with Olhaverry in 1947 and also won the 1948 San Pasqual and the 1946 San Mateo with the same performer. Peterson also scored many vic- tories with Texas Sandman, including a triumph in the San Carlos Handicap. Peterson is married and has one child. His family still reside in California. He is in the east with the Cresson Stable, which plans to campaign at Delaware Park and in New Jersey following the Pimlico meeting. Agent Paul DoneDa is handling his engagements.
