HAMILTON MEETING COMES TO CLOSE. Rose Queen Wins Wentworth Plate. Feature of Final Day. in Easy Fashion. Hamilton. Ont.. July 3. The spring meeting of the Hamilton Jockey Club came to a close with the running of todays urogram. Small fields went to the post in a majority of the races, but the sport was of a high order and the large crowd that turned out was well pleased with the afternoons entertainment. There were seven races on the program, the features of which were the Wentworth Plate and the Toronto Handicap Steeplechase. Al Koenigs-bergs Rose Queen made her onpositlon in the Wentworth Plate look cheap, winning as her rider pleased from Centre Shot. The pace throughout was exceedingly fast, the first five furlongs being run in 5S1. The tabled history of the Wentworth Plato is as follows: Year. Winner. A. Wt. Jockey. Val. John Dillon and Steve Lane racing together until at the last fence, where the former drew away into an easy lead. Immediately after the races there was a scramble among the horsemen to get away from Hamilton. Ten carloads loft this morning and the remainder will ship tonight and tomorrow. Previous to the races John Shields, acting for Carruthers and Phelan. offered William Walker 0.-000 for Stanley Fay and Bellwether, but Walker refused to close the deal at that figure. L. C. Shobo purchased the jumper. Dr. Keith, yesterday and will ship him with Centre Shot and Cloisteress to Fort Erie. It took four cars to move the big stable of P. T. Chlnn from Woodbine and Hamilton to Fort Erie. Tlie shipment comprised thirty-two horses. Andrew Summers was permitted to start in todays steeplechase because he was entered in that event before the stewards made the ruling against W. G. Wilson.
