ELDERLY ROSEBEN AND HIS TROUBLES. New York. July :!. It is improbable. David Johnson says, that Roseben may race again. After the seven-furlong raeo at Sheepshead Bay Thursday, in which the big son of Ben Stroine and Rose Leaf was beaten by Nimbus, he was so lame he could hardly walk from the scales to the saddling paddock. Mr. Johnson then said that he would be retired. How-over, it would not bo wise to say good-bye to old Uoseben just yet. He has been lame before and he has had many farewell performances. Roseben began his racing career handicapped by a bowed tendon. His legs failed while in the stable Enoch Wish-unl was training for John A. Drake and it was tendon. His legs failed while in the stable Enoch Wishard was training for John A. Drake and It was because of the bowed tendon that he tirst appeared under colors as a gelding to prevent his becoming too gross to train. Never in the history of the turf lias a broken down horse raced as lioselven has raced under the handling of Frank Weir. He has packed greater weight and won more fast races at six. six and a half and seven furlongs than did Voter himself. It will be many a day before his seven furlongs record of 1:"2, made at Belmont Park three years ago, is beaten.
