CESARION LEADING SIRE OF JUVENILES. Ben Brush, Cunard, Star Shoot, Ogden, Solitaire II, and Woolsthorpe Follow in Order Named. Lexington. Ky., July 3. The end of the first six months of 1800 racing in the United States, Cuba and Canada finds the American-bred stallion. Cesar-Ion, seventeen-year-old son of Faustus and Clco-iratra, by Rosicrucian, at the head of the list o sires of two-year-old winners. Cesarion is the horso that was raced so successfully by the late Byron McClelland. He was purchased for the McGrathiana Stud by Colonel Milton Young, and there made his reputation as a sire of sprinters. Last fail when the McGrathiana Stud was dispersed, Irving H. Wheatcrofr, the wealthy railroad and mining magnate, who has interests in Kentucky. Oklahoma and British Columbia, and who is a comparatively newcomer to the ranks of turfmen and breeders, bought him for the trifling sum of ,500. Cesarion has to his credit the following fourteen juveniles, which liavo collectively won thirty-two races, with an aggregate net value of 9,770: Flying Squirrel. Carroll. Fire. Helma S.. A. J. Small, Kid. Sir Ashton. La Petite. Ablhu. Miss Loris, Jessica, C. A. Loiman, Lena Merle and Lu-cetta. Of these Flying Squirrel, Carroll and A. J. Small are stake winners, and In this respect. In point of numbers, Cesarion is surpassed by no other stallion. Star Shoot being the only other sire with three juvenile stake winners to his credit this season. , To and including June 30. 127 stallions sired 254 colts and fillies that have won the 50C races decided since January 1 in the territory indicated above, and the net earnings of these youngsters aggregate 02,710. This, in the light of the passage of repressionary laws in many states, is a better showing than the average turfman and racing levotee expected for the tirst six months or 1003. though the thinking men of the turf have all through the unwarranted crusade contended that racing will be rehabilitated and .that the sport is bound to come back on a firmer and better basis. Through the victory of Sweep in the National Stallion Stakes and two other races of minor importance. James K. Keenes Ben Brush, sixteen-year-old son of Bramble and Roseville, bv Reform distinctly American bred, is second in point of money won. Hallack, his other two-year-old winner, lias taken hut a single purse of 25 net value. The two have taken in net first money 4,000. The California stallion, Cunard, with ten winners of twenty-four races and 0,115 is. third. His representatives are: Passenger, Contra Costa, Son;-i. Quality Street. Turret, Pcnn. Trans-Atlantic. Sixteen, Oswald B. and Good Ship. Next comes Star Shoot with eleven winners of eighteen races and .1S5, as follows: Intrinsic. Livonia, ReylKnirn, Scarus, Starport. Rebellion. St.ir Wave, Inferno Queen, Ocean Bound, Zephyr ami Colinet. Ogdeu, Solitaire II. and Woolsthorpe liavc caeii six winners to their credit. Ilic latter being the sire of Donau, winner of ten rurs. which places him at the head of the list of jtivcr.M-s iu point of victories. Filigrane and Kenilworth each have lire winners, while Alloway, Golden Maxim. Nasturtium aud Ornament arc represented by four each.
