ROCK THORN, away forwardly, was rated in near pursuit of the leaders, responded with good speed after slipping through on the inside of the leaders when approaching the stretch turn, went into a good lead inside the final eighth and held BOTANIC safe. The latter, outrun early after losing a great deal of ground while moving into the back stretch and, reaching contention, finished full of run on the outside. KENTUCKY COLONEL, urged and kept close up. was subjected to punishment and outfinished REIGH SHOT. The latter raced along under slight pressure while making the pace, but tired in the last quarter. PLAGUER raced in greatly improved form over recent starts, raced OBTAIN into defeat, withstood a hard drive gamely and came away steadily after shaking off CLOCK GOLF. The latter mov»-d into contention swiftly, made a bold challenge when entering the home stretch, but tired at the end. DR. RALSTON came with belated speed through the final stages and outfinished OBTAIN. The latter, a forward factor throughout, tired near the finish. SINASTE raced well. PANDY fell soon after the break and MARIE BLANCHE II. fell over her. The latter was backing up when the barrier was sprung. CURDLE suffered early interference from MAC MAXIM, recovered quickly, went to the outside for racing room, overtook the leaders with good speed and, under severe pressure, moved into the lead in the final sixteenth and was going gamely at the end. VOYAGE, hurried along from the start, raced PONDY into defeat and held on with good courage. PONDY, away fast and clear, set a good pace, but was unable to withstand the drive of the first two. INTENSE raced well placed and had no mishaps. LION HEARTED followed in close attendance of CIRCULET while under restraint, took command after leaving the back stretch, was put to a drive and, holding on in game fashion, lasted to stall off HUMANIST. The latter, reserved within striking distance of the pacemakers, went to the outside when making his move and, finishing gamely, was slowly overtaking the winner. LINDSAY*, slow to settle in his stride, finished with a rush. CIRCULET tired when put to a drive. The saddle slipped on SEA KALE and his rider could not do him justice. HANKY RICE, messed around going to the first turn and taken up repeatedly, got into contention on reaching the back stretch wore CEDAR CREST down, but was hard ridden to outstay KOSCIUSKO. The latter began from the outside, worked his way up steadily and finished gamely. FIKE ROCK finished with a rush on the outside. CEDAR CREST was alone after going three-quarters.
