HAWTHORNE STAKES LIST Chicago Business Mens Racing Association Announces Feature Races of Meeting. At a meeting of the directors of the Chicago Business Mens Racing Association, held yesterday, the stakes for the summer meeting at Hawthorne, opening August 2, were formally released for publication. They include the Hawthorne Handicap, for , three-year-olds and over, 5,000 added ; the Windy City Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, ,000 added ; the Great Lakes Claiming Stakes, ,000 added ; the Chicago Juvenile Handicap, 0,000 added, and the Fort Dearborn Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, 0,000 added. The Hawthorne Gold Cup, at weight-forage, with 5,000 added, to be run at the autumn meeting, commencing September 30, was also approved. President Schank and general manager Murphy spent Sunday inspecting the improvements at Hawthorne, which are well under way. These include an addition to the club house on the west end, the ceiling of the roof of the grandstand, the setting aside of additional parking space and the building of a new tack room. With Forty-eighth Street open from Ogden Avenue to the lake, it was found necessary to increase the parking space on the Forty-eighth Street side, and to improve the entrance for the South Side visitors. The new boulevard puts the track within twenty minutes ride by automobile of South Park.
