L0NGCHAMPS RACING ENDS Chantilly Opens Next Sunday with French Oaks as Feature — Hot weed Victorious. SPECIAL CABLEGRAM. PARIS, France, June 3. — Longchamps closed yesterday until June 25. Next Sunday Chantilly opens with the Prix de Diane French Oaks as the feature attraction. The closing feature at Longchamps was the valuable Prix Lupin, a contest at 2,100 meters, for three-year-olds. The winner was Edmund Esmonds Hotweed. Ridden by Guy Garner, the son of Bruleur — Seaweed, defeated Mrs. H. Polaks Arbaletrier. Chalmagne was third. Hotweed was reserved at the Deauville Sales at a price of 400,000 francs. Afterwa:d he was bought privately by Esmond. The victory of Hotweed was not particularly brilliant, and experts are not very enthusiastic about him. The three-year-old colts in France this season are considered very ordinary. Hotweed may yet prove himself to be a good colt, but the most optimistic do not believe he will be an extraordinary one. The field was small, and this aided him to victory. He is now the choice for Prix du Jockay Club French Derby. This classic will be run on June 16 at Chantilly. The fact that Hotweed wore blinkers in yesterdays victory indicates that he is not f the kindest disposition.
