▼ — f CANADIAN TURF NOTES I s ® TORONTO, Ont., June 3. A. H. Louden, secretary of the Hamilton Jockey Club, was out for the final days sport. He reports that several stables will be shipped to Hamilton following the close of the racing at Long Branch. H. G. Bed-well is among the horsemen who have decided to rest up at Hamilton. F. H. Smith came down from Montreal to witness the running of the Prince of Wales Plate. The Smith racers are at Blue Bonnets, where they are being freshened up for the Montreal Jockey Clubs meetting. C. C. Smithson announced that following the close of the Long Branch meeting his stable would be shipped to Aqueduct. He reports that Aucilla is rounding to form following a leg injury. He struck himself in his last race on the ankle and the leg filled up. Spanish Flyer developed lameness while being breezed this morning and was excused from starting in the sixth race. The condition books of the Fort Erie meet-iing were distributed among the horsemen this afternoon. Cyrus Field Clarke has arranged to ship the fifteen horses he has in training for C. L. Whiting from here to the Long Branch course. Circulet, the Seagram racer, picked up three pounds in the Prince of Wales Plate ; the conditions of the race called for winners of each race to be penalized three pounds. The Sewickley Stables racer Sonnelli was taken down with fever this morning, which accounted for his being withdrawn from the Prince of Wales Plate. Lindsay, from the J. C. Fletcher stable, was an added starter. Ignite ran away three-eighths on his way to the post in the first race. The Canadian-bred racer Hazel L., in the stable of Mrs. A. R. Lawson, is reported to have gone wrong after a fast trial here a few days back and will probably be retired for the season. The Lawson stable left for Connaught Park last night. Jack Pryce shipped the division of the Wilson-Salmon stable which he will race at the Quebec tracks at the same time. Marshall Cassidy will fly from here to Ottawa Tuesday morning. Jockey W. Curran left for Ottawa Sunday. He motored up to join the Mrs. J. Simpson Dean stable, to which he is under contract this season. Curran has been riding in excellent form at the Thorncliffe meeting. He rode two winners, Cliftons Maid and Mulatto. W. Kelly, who acts as custodian of the jockeys* room at several of the independent tracks, was an arrival. B. E. Chapman was an arrival at Long Branch with his horses. He shipped direct from Bowie to Toronto. Jockey Sullovey, under contract to J. Boden, has placed his application for a jockeys license with the Canadian Racing Association. D. Garrity claimed Omareen out of the fifth race Thursday for ,750. Starter Marshall Cassidy plans to fly from here to Ottawa in a moth plane. Sun Kin pulled up lame after being breezed Friday and was excused from starting in the sixth race. Black Dia/nond and two-year-olds in the W. J. Salmon stable will be shipped from Woodbine Park to Long Branch to participate in the racing at that meeting. Black Diamond is a candidate for the Hon. Forbes Godfrey Handicap, a ,000 added stake. Joe Tighe will handle these horses while J. R. i Fryee leaves with the main division of the stable for Ottawa. The running of the race for maiden jockeys, which was filmed by the Movietone operators, was broadcast by Tommy Daly. , — a
