CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES — 1 LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 19. Charles F. Price, dean of racing officials in charge of the Washington Park racing, took his departure for Chicago tonight and will inaugurate the final important preparations for the Washington Park racing tomorrow. On Thursday racing secretary William H. Shelley leaves for Chicago, and entry clerk Larry Bogenschutz gets away at the same time. P. T. Chinn sold at private terms to F. F. Brant the two-year-old Rainbow Dance, a daughter of Cherokee and Princess Camille. Briar Hawk, recently reacquired by W. S. Kilmer, was shipped to Bainbridge Park with H. C. Hatchs Ohio Derby candidate, Bows Howdy, and later proceeds to Toronto, where he will be taken over by Jack Whyte. T. Valentine left for Montreal with six two-year-olds and the older Jean and Jack Spratt, owned by Miss Blanche Watson. A division of the Watson Stable is at Bainbridge Park, and that in charge of Phil Reuter leaves the Downs for Washington Park Thursday night. Don Meade, clever apprentice, accompanies Reuter to the Homewood track. With the opening of Washington Park, the picturesque course of the Washington Park Jockey Club, only a few days off, practically all of the leading Kentucky stables have completed arrangements for the removal from Churchill Downs to that Illinois track. Almost without exception, the cream of the thoroughbreds raced at Churchill Downs and Lexington will move on to Washington Park. Stables going from here to Washington Park include those of R. S. Clark, A. Baker, C. V. Whitney, Mrs. Payne Whitney, J. W. Parrish, A. A. Barroni, George Collins, J. Graham Brown, S. S. Combs and Allan Gal-laher, T. P. Hayes, H. P. Headley, Roscoe Goose, Knebelkamp and Morris, T. E. Mueller, John Marsch, H. M. Woolf, Audley Farm, Howard Oots, R. C. Thatcher, Dixiana, John S. Ward, W. H. Whitehouse, R. W. Collins, J. Lowenstein, Valley Lake Stable, Thomas D. Taggart, Reichert Bros., W. T. Waggoner and son, E. R. Bradley and others. Track superintendent Thomas Young has reserved at Lincoln Fields quarters for the sttables of William Ziegler, Jr., J. C. Ellis, C. W. Moore, H. Couch, V. Gallo, M. Lowenstein, J. W. McClelland, R. Pollard and others. Stables already at Washington Park include J. J. Coughlin, N. W. Church, King Bruce Stable, T. J. Pendergast, Lyda Mae Farm Stable, Rosehome Stable and some of lesser importance. Departures from Churchill Downs for Washington Park Friday will include divisions of the Audley Farm, C. V. Whitney and Mrs. Payne Whitney Stables. The same sttable will have a car each leaving here Sunday. Clyde Van Dusen expects to transfer the entire stables of Charles T. Fisher and H. P. Gardner Friday night. Mr. Fishers Sweep All, which finished second in the Kentucky Derby and has his important test in the 0,000 added American Derby at Washington Park on June 20, is the star of Van Dusens big stable. The Gallaher and Combs, B. B. Williams, Howard Oots, C. C. Van Meter and Griffin Watkins stables leave Friday night, while the Valley Lake Stable, in charge of J. B. Partridge, loads Thursday night. J. J. Greely with the T. E. Nash and E. F. Prichard horses, pulled out for the Home-wood track tonight. Tannery, a stakes candidate among the Prichard racers, was in the shipment. Walter Taylor is awaiting Monday before transferring the H. P. Headley and R. M. Eastman horses, his late departure resulting fiom Mike Halls engagement in the Grainger Memorial Handicap Saturday. The Jonn Marsch horses, under the direction of Milo Shields, go Wednesday night, and J. M. Reed is transferring the crack filly Butter Beans, winner of the Debutante Stakes here in one of the two Marsch cars. Proteus, one of the best of the western juveniles, and four others of his age, will make up A. Pelleteris Stable for the Washington Park meeting. The division of the Audley Farm Stable going to Washington Park Friday night will be in charge of Terry OMalley and trainer Kay Spence. Jockeys D. McAuliffe and J. Judy were licensed by the stewards.
