WATCH ON, much the best, soon took a good lead and, opening up a wide margin in the stretch, won as he pleased. i-OXBOLT raced close up, but was tiring at the end. SUN ROMAN raced wide into the stretch, but finished fast and would have been second in a few more strides. ORESTES II. never threatened. JOHN I!, showed earlv speed. SAM COLE improved his position steadily in the last quarter and, finishing fast, got up in the closing strides to head SAM GILMORE. The latter took command in the last sixteenth after racing close up and barely missed. BAPTISTE was never far back and held the others safe. PRINCE PAT, away poorly, made up ground and finished fast. FAVORIT II. saved ground on the stretch turn, took a good lead, then tired. CHESTER fhowed the way to the stretch turn, where he bore out and was never prominent thereafter. ZINN was i;i close quarters on the far turn. ELSIEN BRUCE, never far from the leaders, came fast in the stretch and overtook PRINCE SWEEP and won e;oing away. PRINCE SWEEP dashed into contention on the outside in the first quarter and, heading MAILLIW on the stretch turn, took a short lead, but tired near the end. MAILLIW outbroke the others and raced fairly well throughout. FORTUNA MIA was badly outrun early, but was going well at the end. BRIDGEPORT closed ground in the last eighth. FLAG CATCHER, PALMETTE PANGLE and LADY ARA tired. Scratched— 58494 Joe Flores. 106.
