MORE CLASSIC NOMINATIONS • Epithet, Bayard, A La Carte and Others Supplementary Entries. ♦ General Manager Roy Carruthers Well Pleased With Number and Quality of Subscriptions to Arlington Stakes. ♦ Supplementary nominations for the stakes to be run during the coming annual summer meeting at Arlington Park, which were closed at midnight Monday, included those of Epithet, Bayard, Al A Carte, St. Brideaux and Burning Up for the Classic, the 0,000 added fixture for three-year-olds to be renewed either on Saturday, July 11, or Saturday. July 18, the exact date has not been announced. Epithet, the only horse to defeat Jamestown and winner of the Hopeful Stakes, the rich Saratoga Special for juveniles, was named by the Warm Stable, owned by Silas H. Mason and Arnold Hanger, while Mrs. Payne Whitney entered St. Brideaux, and Bayard was nominated by Col. E. R. Bradley, whose Blue Larkspur accounted for the first Classic in 1929. A La Carte was named by the Alton Stable, and Burning Up by Mrs. E. Denemark, local patroness. Additional supplementary entries for other of the stakes included the following: C. A. Hartwells Opiopio, Paradise Stock Farms Issaquena, and C. V. Whitneys Avenger for the Arlington Oaks; C. H. Nuckols Cousin Jo for the Arlington Matron Handicap; Epithet for the Stars and Stripes Handicap; Tejas Stables Usual Time, M. L. Schwartz Gusto, T. M. Cassidys Universe and B. Blocks Morfair for the Post and Paddock Stakes; J. Leiters Princess Camelia, F. A. Carreauds Port o Dream, Forest Cove Stables Butter Beans. Tejas Stables Usual Time and Mrs. Denemarks Miss Mar for the Lassie Stakes; R. Parrs Her Grace for the Arlington Handicao; the Tennessee Breeders Associations Wild Child, Mrs. Denemarks Panchio and Warm Stables Epithet for the Arlington Inaugural Handicap. Several additional late subscriptions accepted in New York by Joseph McLennan, racing secretary, may be announced Wednesday. It was said that The Beasel, an outstanding eastern performer, is named for several of the features in the entries McLennan is bringing from New York. McLennan arrives here Wednesday morning. Roy Carruthers, general manager of the Arlington Park Jockey Club, is more than pleased with the number and quality of the subscriptions and particularly so over the great array of new additions received for the two stakes for steeplechasers to be run during the coming meeting. In an announcement Tuesday he said that condition books would be distributed about Monday and announcement of dates for the running of all the stakes will be made at that time. . .a
