WORLDS MOST FAMOUS RACE TO BE RUN TODAY . - -— -a EPSOM DERBY FIELD * Twenty-Seven Carded to Start ii Englands Most Coveted Race. ♦ Three American - Owned Horses Among Prospective Contestants — Cameronian Favorite. ♦— — Special Cablegram. LONDON, England, June 2.— The eyes of half a million or more spectators will be focused tomorrow on the running of the Epsom Derby, the worlds greatest race, at Epsom Downs, and the attention of millions of other turf enthusiasts throughout the civilized world will be directed toward the same point. For generations this turf classic has evoked world-wide interest, but never was it so great as this year, possibly because of the tremendous popularity of the various sweepstakes conducted on it. Tonight twenty-seven three-year-olds were listed as probable starters in the great mile and a half race, but it is expected that there will be several scratches before post time. There was keen disappoinment today when it was announced that Link Boy, owned by the Anglo-American, W. M. G. Singer, and which was to have been ridden by the veteran Steve Donoghue, had been scratched. After the colt had galloped this morning, he was examined by a veterinary, and it was upon his advice that Donoghue was left without a mount in the classic. It was reported that Link Boy has an intestinal disorder. The withdrawal of Link Boy leaves three starters representing American owners. These are Marshall Fields Jacopo, William Woodwards Sir Andrew and R. Kahns Knoloma. All of the American-owned colts are reported to be in excellent condition. They galloped this morning, but it was merely limbering up exercise for them. Two, Sir Andrew and Jacopo, have been heavily supported in the betting. FAVORITE AT 4 TO 1. John A. Dewars Cameronian remains the favorite at 4 to 1. Sir Andrew was quoted at 25. to 1. while Jacopo, which was the favorite during much of the winter, was 22 to 1. His price shortened considerably in the last few days. Weather indications were not promising, and it is feared that they may keep King George from attending. Skies were gray, and the turf was sodden today. If rain continues, several colts now considered probable starters will be scratched. The odds on prospective starters follow: Abbots Worthy, 100 to 1; Apperly 60, Armag-nac 100, Cameronian 4, Cherry Lad 100.
