LICENSES AWARDED AMATEURS Stewards of National Steeplechase Association Hold Meeting in South Carolina. NEW YORK, N. Y March 14. The board of stewards of the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association recently met at Aiken, S. C. Consideration of licenses was the chief business of the meeting. Certificates as amateur riders were issued to William Almy, Jr., William Dupont, Jr., Anderson Fowler, Sidney H. Hirst, Noel Laing, Rigan McKinney, David Dallas ODell, J. E. Ryan, John M. Schiff, J. T. Skinner and Thomas Waller. Almy and Ryan can ride only horses trained by themselves. Applications for certificates as amateur riders were approved, subject to confirma-: tion by the Hunts committee, for the following: Frank A. Bonsai, Jr., John Grew, John De Z. Hamilton, Richard P. Hamilton, Earl S. Potter, Duncan H. Head, William Streett and Alexis G. Wilson. The application of John W. Jackson for a certificate as ah amateur rider was denied, while that of Herman Flodstrom approved at the January meeting was revoked. The applications of William Brennan and Carter Nelson were tabled for further consideration. Trainers licenses were issued to William Almy, Jr., Benjamin Leslie Behr, George R. Bowyer, Irving A. Burgess, Joseph H. Clements, T. J. Donohue, James Healy, Norman W Kennedy, James Mahoney, Thomas H. McCreery, J. E. Ryan, J. P. Smith, W. G. Stonebridge, William B. Streett, Roder Taylor, G. R. Tompkins and Sylvester Vietch. Jockeys licenses were granted Albert Bau-man, Irving A. Burgess, D. Byers, Joseph H. Clements, Anthony Harraway, George M. K. Hudson, William Hunt, Henry C. Little, Horace Murdock, Roger Taylor and George Rowe. Burgess, Clements and Taylor are limited to riding horses trained by themselves or contract employer. The applications of Ivan Parke and Harvey Williams for jockeys licenses were denied Morris H. Dixon, Newtown Square, Pa., was elected a member of the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association. The Queens County Jockey Club was granted permission to give steeplechases at their spring and autumn meetings this year.
