UMA. quickly taken to the outside and, never far back, improved her position fast when losing much ground entering the stretch and, wearing down TUFINUF, was safe from ANNE L. The latter moved up fast on the stretch turn, tired briefly entering the final eighth, but came again mildly near the end. TUFINUF showed speed, lost ground early, but went to the inside in the stretch and tired. LORD VALENTINE, a factor from the start, dropped back suddenly after half a mile, but rallied in the last sixteenth. NOBLE WRACK had a rough race. AVIATOR began slowly and missed the crowding. HELEN VIRGINIA began fast and was taken up when she swerved badly on the turn. HAROLD ORMONT was close up when his rider was unseated pve-sixteonths out. ROUND UP, probably much the best and cut off repeatedly in the early stages, moved up steadily when clear, disposed of ROMANY BAW quickly and weakened, but outstayed ROYAL SON. The latter, well out of it the first half mile, gave good speed when vigorously handled after reaching the final five-sixteenths and, but for interference near the end, might have been closer up. ROMANY BAW had speed, saved ground and weakened after five-eighths. FRED AUERBACH held on well. PATTIE KATE raced well. ULTIMATE VOTE quit after reaching the stretch. GRAPHITE began fast, showed speed, was forced back when ROMANY BAAV weakened in the late stages and had little chance thereafter. GLORIA SHARPE was away poorly. BALLYGRAN, probably best, began fast, bore out badly on the turn and, responding resolutely in the final eighth, was gradually overtaking the winner. SUNNY SIDEUP saved ground in her good performance. BOSTON COMMON, a strong factor throughout, had no mishaps. FAIR IMAGE could not get up. TOXEY had no excuses. ARRAY began slowly and, racing wide, missed the crowding on the turn, improved her position steadily in the stretch and bore over on HONEYNAN. and SQUEAKY" in the final fifty yards. SQUEAKY worked his way into the lead on the outside on the stretch turn, withstood pressure gamely and was going resolutely when impeded near the end. IMELDA, slow to get going and outrun to the stretch, closed with a rush on the extreme outside. HONEYMAN showed speed, saved ground, tired after wearing down SQUEAKY and approached the finish in very close quarters. FIDDLER, on the inside throughout, had no chance to come through in the closing five-sixteenths and, with better luck, would have been a stronger factor. PREMEDIi TATE showed early speed. SISTER ZOE began fast, but dropped out of it, gained steadily on the outside after reaching the final three-eighths and was going well in the late stages. OPEN HEARTH, unprepared at the start, was blocked trying to get through on the inside at the end of five-eighths, closed strongly when clear and might have been best. PRINCE PEST tired in the drive. NYACK quit. ESPINACA showed a poor performance and worked out an additional eighth. BILL ORANGE was through after half a mile in a dull performance. Overweight: Sergt. The latter showed speed, was under restraint for half a mile, quickly disposed of BRIGHT KNOT and held on well after being overtaken. FORTUNA MIA was forced to lose ground and closed strong. PRINCE RENO, badly outrun for three-quarters, closed fastest of all. LAZY MARY was weakly handled. ANALYST had speed and was taken up when in close quarters in the last sixteenth. PRINCESS CRUSADER was poorly ridden and under better handling might have been a stronger contender. VILLAGE VAMP broke in a tangle.
