NORTHWAY STABLE ENTRIES Thirteen, Headed, by Plucky Play, Named for Rich Offerings of Arlington Park Jockey Club. One of the largest individual nominators to the seven important stakes of Arlington Parks pretentious July program that closed March 15 is Norman W. Church, whose extensive string of thoroughbreds is handled by E. L. Fitzgerald. Mr. Church has been interested in Chicago racing for several years and his horses, particularly Plucky Play, have frequently been in the public eye. Plucky Play, a five-year-old son of My Play brother to Man o War, heads the thirteen nominations of Mr. Church, who races under the nom de course of Northway Stable, being nominated for the three 0,000 added events, features for three-year-olds and over horses, namely the Stars and Stripes and Arlington Handicaps and Arlington Cup. Plucky Play was one of the outstanding handicap stars of last year with winnings of 6,725, much of which was contributed by triumphs in the Stars and Stripes, Hawthorne and Riggs Memorial Handicaps. He took the measure of the mighty Sun Beau in the Hawthorne Handicap and Clock Tower and Dr. Freeland were among his victims in the Riggs. Mr. Church also has more than mere hopes of taking the 0,000 Classic, the richest three-year-old race in the world, and has named Gallant Sir and Whizz James for the mile and a quarter event. Gallant Sir, like Gallant Fox, winners of the second Classic, a son of Sir Gallahad III., displayed refreshing form at Tanforan last fall. He is in the Classic with Whizz James and also may be a running mate of Plucky Play in the Stars and Stripes and Arlington Handicaps. Jennie Gal is Northways candidate for the Ar- lington Oaks and, with Chatter Queen, is in the" Arlington Matron Handicap, while two colts and a filly are nominations for the Hyde Park Stakes, a dash of five and a half furlongs for juveniles.
