AGUA CALIENTE FUTURITY Loversall Scores Her Fifth Straight Victory in Carrying Off Prize. , Cabezo Triumphs Decisively Over Eligibles ior Agua Caliente Handicap to Be Run Next Sunday. AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, March 14 The richest prize of Sundays program was hung out for the Agua Caliente Futurity and, as had been expected, Loversall, good filly from the Meadowbrook Stable, was the winner. The miss was racing coupled with Meadow Boy and scored by a narrow margin from Linden Tree of the Drumheller barn. Bee-son, recently claimed by L. P. McGinn, was third and Eva B. fourth. Loversall had to be best to win. After acting badly at the barrier she was placed on the outside and in rounding the first turn ran almost to the outside fence, losing many lengths before being straightened out. Under jockey Bobby Jones guidance she soon caught the leaders again and bested Linden Tree in a driving finish. Linden Tree hugged the rail throughout and showed a game performance. Meadow Boy and Miss Potrero were prominent to the stretch turn, then faded away and were far back at the end. The race was worth ,580 to the winner, and the price on the entry was .20. It was the fifth straight victory for Loversall, a daughter of Bistouri Pepper Tea. The Futurity was at five furlongs, and the winners time was 1:00and. Although the Agua Caliente Futurity was the featured attraction Sunday afternoon most interest centered in the running of the Walter P. Montague Memorial Handicap, which brought out a field of Agua Caliente Handicap contenders. With the exception of Spanish Play and Phar Lap, all the contenders for the big race went to the post, and the result was a victory for Cabezo, winner of the Derby Trial Stakes, and second in the Agua Caliente Derby. Cabezo led all the way to win by two lengths from the outsider Good and Hot, while Reveille Boy was third and Marine fourth. Dr. Freeland, Agua Caliente Handicap favorite, was a disappointment, and quit badly to finish far back, while Joe Flores, running companion of Cabezo, and erstwhile favorite for the "Caliente," wheeled and was left at the post. It was a splendid victory for Cabezo, and his owner, W. T. Anderson, was on hand to see him win. When the start came after a delay of eight minutes, Cabezo shot to the front and opening up a good lead at once, was never threatened. Jockey Billy Elliott, the Australian rider, was aboard Good and Hot, and saved ground with the horse all the way to outride R. Wholey on Reveille Boy. Dr. Freeland got through an opening on the inside to become a factor after going1 half the distance, but quit badly when hit with the whip in the stretch. The result of the race brought about sweeping changes in the Agua Caliente future book. Cabezo, son of Carlaris, former winner of the event, is favorite at 2 to 1, while Dr. Freeland was boosted to 6 to 1 after his disappointing effort. Joe Flores went from 4 to 1 to 6 to 1. Good and Hot dropped from 50 to 15 to 1, and Seths Hope went from 8 to 10 to 1. Scimitar, which scored early in the day, was cut from 30 to 1 to 15 to 1. Prices on the other horses in the affair remain the same, with Phar Lap and Spanish Play being 3 to 1 and Reveille Boy 4 to 1. A crowd of 10,000 saw the races Sunday, and the weather was summerlike and conducive to good sport. The track was fast.
