SIDESHOW, prominent and saving ground throughout, assumed a short lead on the turn and responded gamely when the final test came and outlasted CHILETTE. The latter, away well and in close attendance of the pace throughout, challenged gamely in the stretch, but Montgomery easily outrode Fowler in the drive. MONT JULE, racing forwardly on the outside of the leaders from the start, showed good courage in the. last eighth and was slowly wearing down the leaders. EVELYN BARR began in a tangle, closed a big gap and finished fastest of all. LADY ARA, on the outside all the way, raced evenly. HARUM SCARUM pulled up at the start, but finished with a belated rush. PARTIES, away tardily, gradually bettered her position on the inside around the turn and, closing gamely under punishment, outlasted BLACK STOCKINGS in the final drive. The latter, going improved, forced a steady early pace and shook off PRINCETON when straightened out in the stretch, but was unable to withstand the winners bid. PRINCETON, quickest to get going, was steadily in front in the early stages, but weakened in the stretch run. TIGER PRINCE, going forwardly under pressure throughout, finished stoutly. ESTIN saved ground the first half mile, then moved up stoutly between the leaders entering the stretch, but faltered. COMMON, in tight quarters in the run out of the chute, gradually improved his position on the outside when clear and, disposing of the leaders when straightened out in the stretch, won under mild pressure. CHICAGO GIRL met repeatedly early interference, responded gamely when clear and wore down COOTS in the final strides. COOTS, away forwardly and displaying good early speed, was restrained off the pace to the stretch run, where he took command, but faltered when the final test came. TANTALIZING rushed to the front, saved ground while in front, but retired after going three-quarters. HARAMZADA broke slowly and closed a big gap. HIGHEST POINT was carried wide around the turn, then quit. This was a rough race. PEACH ROSE, in close quarters early, gained rapidly after leaving the back stretch,-took command, but was not equal to the winner in the stretch. JIMMIE L. found his stride quickly and showed the most speed under strong pressure. DIODORO was crowded back on the stretch turn, but finished well when clear. WANDERING GOLD had a rough .race.
