ELSTON HAS GOOD LEAD NEW ORLEANS, La., March 14. Gilbert Elston, the clever western apprentice, with the Whitney-Goldblatt stable, reached the closing week of the Fair Grounds with a commanding lead over his rivals for riding honors. Up to today the youngster had scored with forty-four of his mounts, while Charles Landolt, who was second, had won! witli twenty-nine, one more than James McCoy. J. H, Burke and J. Smith had won fifteen races each. Landolt left Saturday night for Agua Caliente where he will ride Kne"belkamp and Morris Spanish Plsy in the Agua Caliente Handicap next Sunday.
