OWLET, a sure fencer, followed KINGS OWN closely until the latter refused to take the eleventh jump, then took a long lead and was well in hand thereafter. KINGS OWN was leading until ho refused at the eleventh jump ; was taken back and sent over the fence and finished second. EXPERIMENT FIRST ran out at the second obstacle, but finally took the fence and ran out again on the third jump, but was taken up when his rider erred in passing the judges stand the first time, then finished the course to take third place. FAIR BOB ran out on the second jump, was taken back and sent over the obstacle, but ran out again on the sixth jump, hurdled the fence off the course and failed to finish. TOM PROCTOR, never far back, came gamely to overtake the tiring leaders in the stretch and won going away. BETH HOGAN followed MORHEART closely to the stretch, then took a short lead, but could not withstand he winner. MORHEART outbroke the others, but tired in the last eighth. GRACELAND was outclassed. LUKE JR. followed WOOLY METEOR .closely in the early stages and, taking command in the stretch, interfered with WOOLY METEOR while taking the lead and was disqualified. The latter took the early lead and raced, namely to the end CHICLERO was well up from the start and finished resolutely. BROWN THISTLE made up ground steadily. ROYAL DOULTON was carried wide on the first turn and trailed to the far turn, then finished fast. MIRVIN LOUISE raced wide on the first turn. ADORABLE CARGO tired. MADAM QUEEN saved ground on the stretch turn, but was blocked at mid-stretch, then continued gamely and was going well at the end. GRAYDALE tired in the stretch. OLD TIMES and SILVER MAN tired also.
