. DELIVERED S FAST WORKOUT LOUISVILLE, Ky., March 16 The best time of the present year for a Derby candi date was turned in this morning at th Downs by Col. W. F. Knebelkamps Delivered, which was piloted by jockey Carl Shea, yeighing 120 pounds, in a five furlong sprint in the fractional time of :24, :50jr 1:03. James P. Edwards Last Act was used as pacemaker. Trainer Claude Hunt did not desire his charge to run as fast as he did, it being his first work of more than a half mile, but Shea could not restrain the gelding at a slower pace. Trainer Tommy Taylor, of the Mrs. E. L Swikard stable, was operated on at the Kentucky Baptist Hospital at 7 a. m. for appendicitis. His brother was at his bedside all morning. P. J. Reilly worked his colt, Dr. Southard, with another colt in his barn three furlongs in :24, :37. The Downs was in excellent racing condition.
