AURORA OPEN FOR SHIP- I I MENTS SUNDAY, MARCH 20 "Exposition Park, Aurora, will positively open May 2, as announced, and run until May 21, dates allotted to the Exposition Park Jockey Club by the Illinois Turf Association, of which it is a member." This was the emphatic statement made by the management today through general manager Edward Carruthers, which set at rest rumors making the rounds of the various winter tracks that the Aurora course would cancel its dates. Such action is farthest from the thoughts of the management, which recently announced the list of officials for the forthcoming meeting. Plans and preparations for a banner meeting are under way. The course will be open to those horsemen whose stable applications have been approved next Sunday. Track superintendent John Keegan will arrive Saturday from Hialeah Park, Miami, and open Exposition Park the following day for shipments of horses expected from points throughout the. country. Keegan gave J. E. Widener invaluable aid in the reconstruction of the beautiful Miami course, and before leaving Florida superintended the preparations necessary for the care of the track until time for the next meeting. Martin Nathanson, who will serve as presiding steward at Aurora, has been busily engaged for the past week confirming and rejecting applications for stable room at the course. He will be assisted in the stand by Charles F. Henry.
