EVENING STARS AT HI ALE AH i I Heads Money Winning Horses With j Two Victories and 5,275. George D. Widener Leading Money Winning Owner Jockey Club Distributes 23,145 During Long Meeting. 1 The Miami Jockey Club, whose meeting closed at Hialeah Park, Miami, on February 27, after running for thirty-nine days, distributed 23,145 among the owners who raced their horses there and were fortunate enough to share in the stakes and purse t distribution. This was a daily average of ,285.77. The meeting began on January 14, and two hundred and seventy-three races were decided during its thirty-nine days. George D. Widener, noted Philadelphia owner, had the pleasure and profit of finishing at the head of the money-winning owners list with 7,445. G. W. Ogle was second with 0,000 and W. C. Weant third, with ,430. Mrs. John Hay Whitney, Mrs. A. Carfano and R. W. Collins each won more than ,000, or rather, their horses won more than that sum for them. Evening was easily the outstanding star . of the meeting. This brilliant daughter of St. James won the Florida Derby and Hialeah Highweight Handicap and 5,275, nearly three times as much as the total won by the second horse, Lightning Bolt, whose victories in the Hialeah Park Handicap and Jockey Club Handicap earned him ,920. Panetian finished right at the heels of Lightning Bolt with winnings of ,850, and Wise Anne had ,180. The latter scored in the Nursery Stakes for fillies. The spectacular "Hank" Mills led the riders with twenty-four winning mounts. A. Robertson was second with twenty one and R. Montgomery third with an even twenty. Saddling eighteen winning horses, W. F. Mulholland easily led the trainers and took the honors in that division. C. Cafarelli saddled eleven winners and finished second to Mulholland.
