1 AGUA CALIENTE NOTES A large wager received by "Zeke Caress today on the Derby winner Bahamas was responsible for the price on that three-year-old dropping 2 pounds. He is now 4 to 1 to win Sundays race. Marine, the Canadian challenger, which has failed to impress in recent starts, was again raised in price and now may be had at 10 to 1. The feature race Thursday has been named the John J. McGraw Handicap in honor of the veteran baseball leader. The New York Giants, who play an exhibition game in San Diego Thursday night, will attend the races in a body as guests of the management. Judge Francis Nelson is numbered among the many admirers of Phar Lap. He is greatly impressed with the Australian and is of the opinion that he is the horse to beat in the "Caliente." The Coburn stable will be split into two divisions at the conclusion of the meeting. John Coburn will take several horses to Tan-foran, while the remainder will be shipped to New York in charge of trainer George Coburn. The stable has had a profitable season at Agua Caliente and the success of the horses is in no small measure due to the clever riding of apprentice S. Coucci, contract rider for the establishment. Wicker, from the stable of R. F. Carman, which broke down during a race recently, was destroyed yesterday, according to reports.
