WINNER OF LINCOLNSHIRE Outsider Jerome Fandor Carries Off English Stake American-Owned Starter Unplaced. Special Cablegram. LINCOLN, England, March 16. Light weights and outsiders in the field were again in front at the finish of this years renewal of the Lincolnshire Handicap. This one mile stake, the first feature of the English flat racing season, was run here today with thirty-six starters. The 40 to 1 outsider, A. E. McKinlays Jerome Fandor, carrying ninety-seven pounds, was the winner. Boydie Davis Dooley, ninety-two pounds, was second and Capt. A. Stanley Wilsons Knight Error, 108 pounds, was third. John Hay Whitneys Jericho, one of the future book favorites for the race and the only American-owned starter, was unplaced under 105 pounds. It was a driving finish. Jerome Fandor beat Dooley, which went to the post at 33 to 1, by three-quarters of a length. Knight Error, 50 to 1, was a length and a half farther back. W. Christie piloted the winner and rode an excellent race. All three placed horses in the Lincolnshire are Irish-bred. Jerome Fandor is a chestnut four-year-old unsexed son of Fan-tomas, from Mindenmaid, by Coriander, from Dutch Lass, by Earle Mor. McKinley, a wealthy Scotchman, paid ,400 for Jerome Fandor at Goffs Dublin horse show sales in 1929 when he was sent up by his breeder, Mrs. Percy Podger, French Furze, Kildare. Previous to todays victory, his most important to date, Jerome Fandor won three of his twelve races as a two-year-old in England, but last season failed to win in eight starts. Dooley, a four-year-old unsexed son of Greek Bachelor, from Illinois, by Prepared, owned by Boydie Davis, was bred by Mrs. O. M. Grady, Kildare. He was sold as a yearling to his. present owner. Dooley did not race as a two-year-old, and last year won one race, the Moderate Plate, at Newbury, in eight starts. Knight Error, a chestnut five-year-old son of Prince Galahad, from V A D, by The White Knight, winner of this race last year, also finished third in 1929. Bred by Allan Baker, Tipperary, Knight Error was sold as a yearling at the 1928 Newmarket July sales for ,250 to Sir George Noble, who disposed of the horse at the end of his three-year-old season for ,500 to Captain Wilson. Last years Lincolnshire Handicap was the only race he won in twelve starts.
