. DRAKE TO MISS RACE PARIS, France, March 16. John A. Drake, once a conspicuous figure in American arid English racing, who bought the French-bred Coup de Chapeau solely to start him in the Grand National Steeplechase, will not see the race. He is confined to his bed with la grippe, and his physician has forbidden him to go to Liverpool. Drake was advised today that his horse was suffering with a slight fever but that he had been shipped from his Lewes training quarters to Liverpool. Drake retired from racing many years ago, but he was so impressed by the conformation of Coup de Chapeau, which is an eight-year-old bay gelding, by Chardonneret Mistinguette, that he purchased him especially for the Grand National.
