RESOLD, away alertly but pinched back in the firs sixteenth, gained steadily when taken to the outside and, wearing down the leaders in the final strides, won going away. NORMAN responded gamely, took a short lead in the stretch, but could not withstand the winner. PANCOAST acted badly at the post, began from outside the machine, found his stride quickly and drew clear early, then tired. WANDEROO was crowded back when he attempted to come through between the leaders entering the stretch. IREDELL could not get up. SEYMOUR began from outside the machine and raced wide throughout. DOUBLE IRISH began poorly and raced green. ALLENS began rapidly and drew clear in the run out of the chute, held the others safe throughout, but had to be hard ridden in the final seventy yards, then was taken in hand and won as her rider pleased. BLANKET BAY, close up all the way, tired in the stretch. CLARINDA came through on the inside and outlasted MONTGOMERY MAID. The latter began slowly, but closed a big gap. AFRO AMERICAN had no excuses. NARDO stumbled at the start and unseated her rider. CHARLEIGH, quickest to get going and rated close to CHIEFS CAMILLE until well around the turn, opened up a commanding lead, but was under mild urging to maintain his lead in the stretch. HARUM SCARUM gradually improved her position in the last half mile, finished gamely, but did not threaten the winner. CHIEFS CAMILLE showed good speed for half a mile, then tired, but was an easy going third. BLOND KNIGHT moved up resolutely on the stretch turn, but tired in the final three-sixteenths as if short. BACCIOCCO outbroke the others, but dropped back in the first quarter, responded gamely under intermittent punishment but was unable to improve his position in the stretch.
