NORIAS FINALLY A WINNER Overcomes Jack Howes Long Lead in Third Race at Dade Park. Busy "Ven, Neglected in Betting, Closes Fast in Second Place Gurgler Scores an Easy Triumph. HENDERSON, Ky., Sept. 6. With the week-end holidays a pleasant memory, Dade Park settled into its final week of racing this afternoon and, with ideal track and weather conditions prevailing, another good week-day crowd was present. Although the program lacked a feature, the racing was formful, with spirited finishes in a majority of the events. The third event resulted in a hard fought contest and popular victory when the Kenton Farm Stables Norias registered her first success of the year. The fillys margin of victory was a length over the fast closing and neglected Busy Ven, with the tiring Jack Howe outstaying Estin. There was a long delay at the barrier, due to the fractiousness of Estin, Runar and Jack Howe, but once .aligned Jack Howe broke ahead of his field and drew into a three-length lead in the opening quarter. Willie Pool, unable to find racing room with the winner until shortly after leaving the first turn, drove his mount into contention as the field turned into the stretch, and-when Jack Howe began to falter in the final sixteenth he sent the winner to the front. However, Busy Ven was closing fast, and she was fast gaining on the victor when they reached the finish. Although tiring from the exacting pace, Jack Howe held on to best Estin, which had worked his way up from a slow beginning. Barney Keen, making his first start in a year, bolted to the outside soon after the break. Showing greatly improved form, W. W. Vaughans Doorkeeper graduated from the maiden ranks in the opening race that attracted a field of eleven maidens of her sex and age. Emmaline H. finished fast for second place with Gladys S. third. Remun eration, the favorite, was impeded shortly after the start, while McCoy sent the victor into a long lead soon after the start and she held sway throughout. The well-backed Gurgler scored the first success of the meeting for the stable of Edward McCuan, when he proved easily best of the limit field of lowly platers that started in the second. Agnes P., coupled in the mu-tuel field, was second, with Rector, an outsider, .third. Meade had the victor in the van soon after the start and he made every post a winning one to be leading the fast-finishing Agnes P. by four lengths at the finish. t George Goulds Jack Horgan came out of the seventh race Monday very lame and will be on the shelf for some time.
