BAINBRIDGE TURF NOTES t 4 S Charles C. Campeau, clerk of the scales at Bainbridge, and Sam Wainwright, old-time jockey, were victims of gunmen Monday morning and were robbed of 00 at the point of revolvers. They were en route to the track about 7 a. m. and were forced to the curb by the robbers. After being robbed they were allowed to proceed. Roberts. Eddy, Jr., was a visitor Monday. He expects to return to Fairmount Park Wednesday. Bainbridge Parks sixteen-day meeting comes to a close next Saturday, September 10. A special train is being arranged to depart from here Sunday, September 11, to arrive at Fairmount Park Monday. Following the close of Bainbridge, Cran-wood, Clevelands half-miler, which is close to town, will open for a short autumn session. George Smith, general manager, announces that he will have plenty of horses. Gene Bury returns this week from Devonshire to act as racing secretary. Bill Dangman will be in the stewards stand. Joseph Cattarinich, accompanied by Mrs. Cattarinich, departed from here Friday to take in the opening of his new Blue Bonnets track in Montreal. He will return here and remain until the close of Bainbridge, then proceed to St. Louis. L. W. Kidd, with six horses, and jockey J. Atkinson left for Kansas City. Charlie Lucas left Saturday for Wheeling, W. Va., where he will assist Lou Smith in the mutuel department. Johnny Dupuy, crack apprentice rider, under contract to Eugene Lutz, is leading thand riders at Bainbridge Park. The New Orleans lad only started riding three months ago and became a full-fledged jockey at Thistle Down. Robbie Clemons, an apprentice under contract to R. P. Gilette, is one of the leaders. Joe Rodriguez, veteran rider, who made a successful comeback on Cleveland tracks this summer, will ride for W. J. Henfling in St. Louis during the Fairmount meeting. Rodriguez hag been riding for Vic Gallo, but Gallo decided to remain here for the Cran-wood meeting. Tommy May, who has been riding in rare form in Cleveland this summer, and who is now under contract to "Doc" E. E. Watson, will accompany t!he latter stable to Maryland at the conclusion of Bainbridge.
