I LAYS 4 TO 1 TWENTY GRAND WONT START .......... 4 NEW YORK, N. Y., Sept. 6. After Green-tree Stables Twenty Grand went through a mile workout in 1:40, after the fifth race at Belmont Park today, Edward R. Bradley announced that he would lay 4 to 1, pay or play, that the four-year-old colt would not race. Twenty Grand came out for his trial attired in four big bandages and was ridden by Marshall Lilly. After a slow jog, he broke at the mile post and was rated, along at an even pace, going the opening quarter in :24, the half in :49, three-quarters in 1:13 and the mile in 1:40. The colt appeared to be "nodding" as he walked back to his stable and several horsemen were of the opinion he was sore from the trial, although trainer Bill Brennan expressed his satisfaction over the colts condition. It was explained that he often appeared sore after his trials, but that the trouble was only temporary.
