ACCIDENT AT RIVERSIDE KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 6. What ap- ; peared to be a serious accident was narrowly averted at Riverside Park this morning when H. Knotts Col. Cloister was pulling up after a gallop and crashed into Ike Seybolds two-year-old Splendid Bet. Working with another horse, Splendid Bet was thrown in the crash and broke her back. While jockey D. Upton, who was astride her, was severely shaken up and rushed to the hospital together with R. Merrick, who was working Col; Cloister. Reports from the hospital state while both boys were badly bruised and shaken up, there were no bones broken.
