1 1 I 1 1 SARATOGA TURF NOTES s $ Joe McLennan is here seeking entries for the Chicago Derby, to be run at Hawthorne the latter part of this month. Reprint, a two-year-old owned by the Coldstream Stud, tore the ligaments in his front leg while breezing Saturday and he may have to be destroyed. Stake blanks for the fall meeting at Lincoln Fields were distributed here Saturday. Stocks, which was purchased by A. Hullcoat, arrived from Canada and joined the stable which he has here. Several trainers stabled here are seeking information about the coming meeting, ta be held at Detroit under the new law. Sixteen yearlings, owned by the Belair Stud Stable, will be broken and educated at Aqueduct in the next few days. Easy Day, Welcome Gift and Parry, owned by the Greentree Stable, were shipped to Lexington to enter the stud. Matty Glennon arrived from New York and joined the ranks of the handicap brigade. Jockey C. E. Allen arrived from the West and reported to trainer Danny Stewart .of the Calumet Farm. The steeplechase division of the J. E. Widener stable, which is at Elkins Park in charge of Dolly Byers, will be shipped to Belmont Park for the fall meeting. The condition book for the first fourteen days of the Rockingham Park fall meeting was distributed among horsemen today. The Saratoga Association announced that it would include in its program the following races for officers of the U. S. army and amateur riders: The West Point Purse at seven furlongs, the Eastern Horse Club Hunters Handicap at two and one-half miles, the Genesee Purse at seven furlongs, and the Mohawk Valley Steeplechase at two miles. Mr. and Mrs. John D. Hertz arrived from Chicago and will stay for several days. Joseph E. Widener will sail from France for New York August 18, according to word received Thursday. Parry, Welcome Gift and Easy Day, owned by the Greentree Stable, will be shipped to Lexington, Ky., to enter the stud. Parry won her last race, which was very pleasing to Mrs. Whitney. Louis Francis, track superintendent at Aqueduct, was a visitor. Ha Ha will be shipped to Wm. Garths farm at Charlottesville, Va., to be turned out and in the spring he will be bred to a few mares. Jockey F. Springer left for Coney Island where he will ride freelance. Jockeys Gilbert, Fronk and Carmody were fined 5 by the starter for disobedience at the post Saturday. At private terms Henry McDaniel, acting for J. E. Widener, sold Pass Shot to Mrs. C. O. Iselin and the horse was shipped to Canada to Roy Waldron for training. John I. Day arrived at Schuylerville from Chicago accompanied by. Roy De Moneye, whom he claims is the worlds champion auto driver. Day brings enthusiastic reports about the racing situation in California and states that the racing commission appointed " by the governor is all that could be desired in the way of sportsmen. Trainer Matt Brady stated that the Catawba Stables Good Advice spread his foot in the Saranac Friday and will be on the shelf for some time. John Kane stated that the Harbor Hill, the leading three-year-old steeplechase fixture, would be run during the fall meeting at Aqueduct and that a complete list of the other stakes will be announced in a day or two.
