CONEY ISLAND TURF NOTES j J ; $ Milton Reiser transferred the horses he j had here to Dade Park Saturday night. Jockey Gordon Arnold was operated upon at a Cincinnati hospital after an attack of appendicitis. Arnold was transferred to the hospital from his home yesterday. He was reported as doing nicely this morning. Fred Holman notified George Read, track superintendent, that he was bringing three horses here from Thistle Down. Jockey Charley Allen returned from Saratoga, where he went to ride Warren Wrights Hadagal in the Saratoga Special. Mrs. Francis Dunne, wife of the assistant racing secretary, who is fulfilling the duties of secretary Campbell during his absence at Fort Erie, arrived from Biloxi, Miss. Apprentice H. -Bagur, who arrived here Saturday, accepted his first mounts this afternoon. Bagur has given first call on his services to Mose Goldblatt, for whom he rode at New Orleans last winter. The F. L. B. Stables Ding Bin was shipped to Hawthorne last night, where he will receive his final preparation for the Hawthorne juvenile stakes. H. H. Battle, trainer of the Cincinnati Trophy winner, departs for Chicago tonight, and during his absence, Guy Lunsford will be in charge of the F. L. B. Stable here. Larry Bogenschutz, who serves as entry clerk and placing judge at Lincoln Fields and Washington Park, was here this afternoon distributing condition books for the first ten days of the Lincoln Fields meeting. He reports the receipt of many nominations for the Lincoln Fields and Washington Park stakes that close tomorrow. The Lincoln Fields meeting opens Monday, September 4, for a period of eighteen days, after that the scene shifts to Washington Park for another three weeks session. Jockey W. West accepted his first mount of the meeting today. Dr. A. Inclans Ninera, the Chilean-bred daughter of Leteo, will make her American debut in the fifth race tomorrow. A. Bakers Flashlike, which was badly jumped on and cut down, had to be destroyed. Jockey W. Garner resumed riding today after serving a five days suspension. A. E. Van Ree shipped the three horses he had here to Dade Park. George Krehbiel, turf editor of Detroit News, arrived from Detroit this morning. He reports much enthusiasm over the meeting at the Michigan State Fair Grounds, which opens Saturday, September 2, for a thirty-one day session. Mr. Krehbiel stated that judge Joseph Murphy, who is in charge of the racing, was a visitor in Detroit Sunday and while there outlined final details for the opening.
