SINGLE A. IS VICTORIOUS Draws Away From Lady de Ver in Race at Thistle Down. Flag Maiden Graduates but Is Closely Pressed by Miss N. Conlan, Which Displays Marked Improvement. CLEVELAND, Ohio, Aug. 14 Single A., running for A. Cremens, made good for a large following today when he won the Waldman Dry Cleaners Purse at Thistle Down Park. The distance was a mile and forty yards. Finishing second to the gelded son of Single Foot, after making a strong effort, was the recent winner, Lady De Ver. Prince Ascot, which had never been in the picture in his Thistle Down racing, beat out the others in a large field. Jockey Tromberio kept Single A. well in hand until reaching the far turn. He then sent his mount into the lead and Single A. went on to win with plenty to spare. Mc-Kell set the early pace in this, but was soon finished. Flag Maiden, a Bunting filly owned by J. Leider, graduated in the running of the fourth, but just did have enough left, after showing high speed, to stall off Miss N. Conlan, which gave a much improved performance. Cheronap saved ground to earn third place. J. F. ONeils Fogarty left the maiden ranks when he wore down the leaders during the stretch run of the initial dash to win going away. Well up throughout, Clo-vinia secured the second award, outgaming Showcase after the latter had raced into the lead when entering the stretch. Dixie L. showed the way to the turn for home, but tired rapidly thereafter. Jockey R. Klein hustled Try Come into the lead at once in the second race. After disposing of Fountain when straightened out in the stretch, the Tryster filly had enough in reserve to withstand the final challenge of Statecraft. Fountain finished a tiring third, after having forced the early pace. This trio dominated the runinng throughout. B. Hernandez scored his second success of the present meeting when Tarpon carried his colors to an easy victory in the third race. Dr. Rogers and Tarpon contested the leadership to the stretch, where the John P. Grier gelding drew clear and enjoyed a comfortable lead all through the last furlong. Snowcloud came from well back to head Dr. Rogers for the second award in the closing strides. - ; ;
