EDDY ANNOUNCES OFFICIALS J. T. Ireland and R. A. Leigh Stewards at Fairmount Snyder to Start Until Wingf ield Reports. COLLINSVILLE, 111., Aug. 14. General manager Robert S. Eddy, Jr., of the Fair-mount Jockey Club, today announced the officials who will serve at the coming meeting at Fairmount Park, opening Saturday, September 2. and continuing up to and including Saturday, October 7, a total of thirty-one racing days. John Ireland and Richard A. Leigh will be stewards. Leigh also will serve as racing secretary. The placing judges are Charles Campau, Cliff Abbo and R. A. Leigh,. Jr. Julius Reeder, who was racing secretary and steward at Fairmount last year and who is presiding steward on the new Canadian circuit, will coma to Fairmount as soon as his duties in Canada are completed. The purses for the 1933 meeting will range from 00 to 00 daily. The book is being written for seven days, after which the races will be written around the horses that are here, and, if the class of horses and the patronage justify, the purses will be raised. G. R. Wingfield will do the starting at Fairmount the same as last year, but for the first few days of the meeting Bill Snyder, who formerly started at this track, will fake charge at the barrier and after that he will serve as patrol and paddock judge for the balance of the meeting. Snyders, home is at Hematite, Mb., and he has always been popular with racing fans in this locality. T. Staszuk, one of the best riders developed in Canada this year, will ride at Fair-mount and among others will be R. Watson, N. Wall, H. Thurber, F. Fellows and B. Marsbio. Owners racing in Canada, who have signified their intention to come to Fairmount Park are R. F. Coppage, C. A. Barry, C. V. Cochran, R. Arbique, F. J. Kearns and J. P. White; Stable blanks have just been forwarded to the different racing centers. Fairmount has always been extremely popular with the horsemen and they have had to turn horsemen away in previous years, due to lack of stable room to take care of them. There are about 1,200 stalls available. T. J. Flippen will bring his" good stable from Chicago. His includes such horses as Hillsboro, War Plane, Tela, Below Cost, Sweet Chariot, Bud Charlton, Luck Piece, Happy Lad, Barashkova, Esperanto, Cullo-den, Prometheus and Harold Jr. There are applications in the racing secretarys office so far for stalls for 200 horses.
