SARATOGA TURF NOTES I . W. J. Norton will take a division of the J. H. Whitney stable to Rockingham Park for that meeting. F. Wallij Armstrong and Kenneth Gilpin, well known breeders, were among the arrivals. Trainer A. J. Joyner stated that G. D. Wideners two-year-old Scythe was cut down in his last race and would be absent from racing for some time. Jockey T. Malley resumed riding Monday, after a lengthy lay-off. Spanish Play, owned by C. H. Knebel-kamp, broke down while working Sunday morning He sustained torn ligaments. Joe McLennan is drawing up the list of stakes for the fail meeting at Jamaica and Aqueduct. This list will be submitted to the directors of each association for approval. McLennan will also write the conditions for the overnight races. Harry Horkheimer, a well known Baltimore sportsman, was among the arrivals Monday for a brief stay. Willis Sharpe Kilmer, who announced last week that a number of his horses in training were to be sold, will offer them at auction in the Fasig-Tipton Co.s ring here on the night of Friday, August 25. They are now quartered at the Kilmer stables on Exterminator Avenue, Saratoga race course, and may be inspected any afternoon. Walter Schuttler, Chicago sportsman, has Surchased from A. W. Kelly the brood mare argot, by Morvich Tinker Belle, her yearling filly by Genie, and weanling bay colt by Mad Hatter. They will be sent to E. K. .Thomas Timberlawn Farm in Kentucky, where the horse Martis will be sent to enter the stud next spring. Dewey Bentham is now racing Martis for the Chicago owner. The storm which passed over this section Sunday did considerable damage to the track. Twenty-five trees in the paddock and surrounding property were felled by the high wind. Fortunately, no stables were damaged. Flag View, which was recently claimed by A. L. Aste, died Saturday night while cooling out after his race during the afternoon. Trainer John Hogan was one of the principal sufferers from the storm. He had parked. his car next to that of Tom Mc-Creery Sunday afternoon. A large tree was blown over, falling on Hogans car demolishing it, but did not touch the one owned by McCreery. Improvement in the condition of jockey J. Baptiste at the Saratoga General Hospital was reported yesterday. Word was received from Havana that no damage was done to Oriental Park during the past few tumultuous days.
