SPY HILLS GREAT TRIAL TRIALGallops Gallops Mile and a Quarter at Bel Belmont mont Park in 204 Arrives Arrivesat at Louisville Thursday NEW YORK N Y May 1 Spy Hill the Greentree Stables main reliance in the Ken ¬ tucky Derby was given his final trial over the main track at Belmont Park this morn ¬ ing The big outlander went the full route and turned in an exceptional performance He was timed in 204 and finished with something in reserve Trainer Brennan who supervised the trial waved the big Eng ¬ lishbred down in the final furlong and jockey Coucci took him under restraint restraintSpy Spy Hill cooled out nicely and was in a playful mood when led back to his stall He will be shipped from Belmont Park Wednes ¬ day and is due at the Downs Thursday He will be given a short breeze Friday morn ¬ ing ingSpy Spy Hill worked alone and showed a high but even pace from the start The first quarter was timed in 24 the four furlongs in 48 This speed was continued as the six furlong post was reached and the watches recorded I12v3 The mile was timed in 138 and then trainer Brennan stepped out and began to motion to Coucci to ease up The Englishbred turned in the mile and a furlong in 151 and then in the final furlong was under restraint restraintMarshall Marshall Lilly will saddle Spy Hill for the Derby and Silvio Coucci will ride him The outlander earned many friends among the horsemen who witnessed the trial which was pronounced the best of the spring season
