KENILWORTHS HORSE COLONY More Than Two Hundred and Fifty Stabled on Grounds Expect Double That Number When Meeting MeetingOpens Opens Next Saturday Track in Best Bestof of Condition WINDSOR Ont May 1 Two hundred and fifty horses have been working out daily over the Kenilworth Jockey Club track for the past week preparatory to the meeting starting at the Windsor track next Satur ¬ day May 5 This number will be increased to more than five hundred when the bugle summons the thoroughbreds to the post for the earliest start of the turf sport in this area in many seasons seasonsThe The track has been lightning fast for these workouts there being no moisture in the ground although the air has been abnorm ¬ ally cool for this season of the year Secre ¬ tary W R Norvell who arrived early on the scene was surprised upon his arrivaLto find so many horses in the pink of condition ready for racing in his daily program of events The fields are sure to be of good size while the class of horsesj on the ground is the best during the last ten or more sea ¬ sons declares secretary NorvelL We will have no trouble in filling the many attract tive handicaps and special races with which the program is dotted during the seven days sport Many of these performers now in i racing condition will be shipped to Wood bine for the opening meeting at that track the MayFor last week in May For the Kenilworth Handicap scheduled to be run opening day Mr Norvell expects a dozen nominations including Stealing away Nat Rays excellent performer and Khorasan The distance of this race will be a mile and a sixteenth with 1000 in added money to the winner None of the overnight purse events will have an added money value less than 700 while the total distribution for the week will be in excess of 36000 Thomas Clark has had his start ¬ ing machine on the track the last week and has been schooling the youngsters for three hours periodThomas each morning during this period Thomas Hare has been on the ground for three weeks or more directing improve ¬ ments to the Kenilworth plant and has it in its customary attractive condition
