ERADICATING USE OF DRUGS J E Widener Speaks to National I Association of Racing Commis ¬ sioners at Louisville T LOUISVILLE Ky May 5 The stimulat ¬ ing of race horses is being eliminated Jo ¬ seph E Widener creator of Hialeah Park in Florida and one of the leading figures in New York racing told a meeting of the National Association of Racing Commis ¬ sioners at Churchill Downs today Mr Widener said that tr James Catlett vet ¬ erinarian and Charles Morgan chemist who were employed at Hialeah and are now at Jamaica will when they are replaced in New York be sent by him to France to study methods in use there He said that France by use of the saliva test has ab ¬ solutely eliminated use of narcotics narcoticsThe The meeting was presided over by B F Paty vicepresident o the National Asso ¬ ciation and chairman of the Florida Com ¬ mission The National Association will be guests Saturday night at a dinner follow ¬ ing the Derby to be given by Col Matt Winn and Monday will have an executive meeting in Lexington followed by a dinner by the Thoroughbred Club of America at which Desha Breckinridge will preside and Gov Ruby Laffoon will welcome the guests They will be entertained Monday evening by the newlyformed National Thoroughbred Breeders Association of America AmericaThose Those present in addition to Mr Paty were Walter Donovan secretary of the Florida Commission Peter B Carey chair ¬ man of the Illinois Commission James B McLaughlin chairman of the West Virginia Commission William H Cane commission ¬ er and Robert J OBrien secretary of the New Jersey Commission Edwin J Brown chairman of the Washington State Commis ¬ sion George Blocker chairman and Isaac Collins commissioner of Ohio Guy L Wag ¬ goner chairman of the Texas State Com ¬ mission missionMark Mark R Hanna president of the National Association will arrive Saturday morning D G Just secretary of the Michigan Com ¬ mission represented him today todayHerbert Herbert Bayard Swope recently appointed to the New York Commission wired that he will be present Saturday
