JAMES P EDWARDS SUICIDE LOUISVILLE Ky May 5 Turf and legal circles were shocked at the death last night of James P Edwards lawyer breeder and former president of the Thoroughbred Horse Association Victim of his own hand the body of the popular and prominently known local sportsman was found at 11 oclock last night in the bedroom of his country estate on Upper River Road at Prospect A shotgun at his side had been discharged dischargedMr Mr Edwards had been in ill health for some time and had threatened to take his own life Coroner John M Keaney said after questioning familyMr members of his family Mr Edwards was born here He attended public school here and was a graduate of Center College He was elected to the Ken ¬ tucky General Assembly in 1902 and 1904 and also served on the board of Public Safety the latter year A lover of thorough ¬ breds Mr Edwards owned several mares and breedingAnnouncement raced a few horses of his own breeding Announcement of funeral arrangements will be made later
