PREPARING FAIRMOUNT PARK With Racing Dates Officially Sanc ¬ tioned Aurora Officials Begin Necessary Preliminaries AURORA 111 May 5 With the dates let for the thirtyfour day meeting which will be conducted at Fairmount Park at Collins ville 111 from May 26 to July 4 inclusive approved by the Illinois Racing Commission Fairmount officials now at Aurora wasted no time today in setting into motion prepara ¬ tions designed to insure the maximum num ¬ ber of fit horses when opening day rolls around aroundRobert Robert S Eddy who serves as general man ¬ ager of both the Aurora and Fairmount race courses received printers proofs this morn ¬ ing of the condition book for the early days of the meeting and approved orders for the printing of both the books and of the huge supply of admission and mutuel tickets that will be required to conduct Fairmounts spring meeting meetingMany Many of the horsemen now racing at Aurora have signified their intention of shipping to Fairmount during the two day day interval that will separate Auroras clos ¬ ing and Fairmounts inaugural There are about 150 horses on the grounds at Fair mount and many more are expected to be shipped to Collinsville following the Alamo Downs and Dallas meetings now in progress in Texas Alamo Downs is the first of the pair of the Texas tracks to wind up its meet ¬ ing racing ending there next Saturday A j special train will leave for Illinois following the closing with some of the horses slated to come to Aurora for the last half of the meeting at the Fox Valley course and the remainder expected to drop off at Fairmount to await the opening there thereTrack Track superintendent Placide Frigerio has been taking week ends off from his duties at Aurora for several weeks to visit Fair mount Park and reports the track there in excellent condition The Fairmount track consists of sandy loam and requires little of the preliminary attention necessary to whip the Aurora track into its best condition Frigerio and most of his crew will visit Fairmount from time to time during the re ¬ mainder of the Aurora meeting and the track will be at its best for the opening
